Meet the Instructor
Krisian Chhatralia began training in Wado Ryu Karate at the age of six and has spent over two decades developing his skills across multiple martial arts disciplines. He attained his 1st Dan black belt in karate at 15 and has cross-trained in jiujitsu and judo – blending striking, throws, and joint control into a practical, balanced system. This hybrid approach forms the foundation of the classes taught at Zanshin Defence.
His emphasis is on technical striking, practical self-defence, and clear, structured progression. Classes are small by design, allowing for personalised coaching, real-time feedback, and space for each student to grow at their own pace – whether they’re just starting out or looking to sharpen existing skills.
Outside of martial arts, he holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and previously worked for an Oxford University spinout focused on quantum security. That background brings a methodical and analytical mindset to his coaching – helping students develop both physical ability and mental focus through consistent, intentional training.
While his academic background shapes a structured teaching approach, martial arts has always been the steady thread. Zanshin Defence reflects that balance – a space where students can train with focus, develop real skills, and enjoy the process.

We train adults aged 18 and over – including university students, working professionals, and anyone looking to build confidence, fitness, and real-world skills in a focused setting.
The training is high-intensity but accessible, with classes tailored to help individuals challenge themselves at their own pace.
